This kitchen has really good bones. Brick floors in a kitchen are my weakness..I would either add more shelves or put in closed cabinets. Personally, a smaller refrigerator would work, and a bigger island/table. Love the wood, though! I might use an island with storage and add a butcher block countertop with some lock-able wheels. The chairs are where color should come in. If they really want to stick with white walls and cabinets, which I agree work very well in this space, I would get brightly-colored chairs and pendant lights to add some interest and draw the eye.
This is a window seat in a kitchen. Combining two of my favorite things! You could even add some storage through drawers or cabinets in the base of the window seat.
